The VOW: the lies that some chosed to believe / O voto: as mentiras que algúns quixeron crer

I have spoken before about the role of the Scottish Media (commanded from London) in the referendum. But there is one newspaper which has been important in terms of encouraging the NO vote, and that was the Daily Record, which if it didn't have much credibility before, has even less now.

Fortunalely we have arquives and files to remind us all of the lies published in the  paper, for example this one; here you have some news about oil before the referendum and contradictory news after the 18th of September.

After lying and cheating the people of Scotland by publishing "The Vow" and, I guess, driven by the continuing economic losses of sales, the Daily Record tries to rectify... too late, they knew what was going to happen... so let every one assume the consequences of their actions and their journalistic responsibility, if they have any.

Very soon their wailing began but those cries are worthless now. And it seems that worst wailing is still to come...

The reflection I made about this all is:  Are we so daft that we believe everything published in the newspapers, even after we've all been saying very often the phrase "you can not believe a single word"? Why does it happen so often in our lives, no matter if you are living in Galiza or Scotland?

Tan amargados estamos?

Is it like this because we are no longer able to assume our own resposabilities and find alternative information? Or does it go further... Is it just because we don´t assume the full responsability we have and we decide to take the easier way (even when we know is the wrong decision) to just stay the same?  Are we seriously so irresponsable? Are we so selfish that we don´t think about the next generations who deserve news opportunities?
What kind of message do we want to send them? That there is nothing to do, that they have to live with bitterness and without hope for any change or to build anything new? Are we so bitter?

We are always learning and I would like to believe that we'll get over this week's obsessions and we'll be able to act generously. We had our opportunities, we are living our lives, and sooner rather that later we will have to step down and let the new generation live intensely and with hope, the world that we leave them some years ahead...

Let's think about it, no matter if you are in Galiza, in Scotland or anywhere... The lies that the Establishment  used to cheat the people of Scotland, are the same lies that we listen to here every single day. And the punishment is exactly the same, for the weakest, for the most unprotected... and if you are in a privileged status and you think that this is not for you... think twice... life takes many turns. Dependence is not an option.

Abusivo e vergonzoso.

Meanwhile, the Labour Councils of Aberdeen and Glasgow have started to punish with old taxes those who registered to vote... with taxes from 20 years ago until the present... abusive and disgraceful...

Fortunalely, the grassroot work continues... and I wish them a very early success:
